Taxhead.com Tax Software Approved by IRS for 2005 - 2006 Tax Season

(PRWEB) November 25, 2005 -- Energy Matters LLC, owner and operator of Taxhead.com has completed its tax software acceptance testing requirements with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for its tax year 2005 software (for tax returns being prepared and filed in 2006).

"PATS", which stands for the "Participants Acceptance Testing System", is a testing requirement for Software Developers, Reporting Agents, and e-file Transmitters planning to transmit individual electronic returns to the IRS. The purpose of PATS is to ensure, prior to live processing, that Providers transmit in the correct format and meet the IRS electronic filing (e-file) specifications; that returns have few validation or math errors; that required tax return fields will post to the IRS Master File; and that Providers understand the mechanics of IRS e-file.

New tax codes have been added to the tax software to cover changes made by the IRS for 2005 taxes. These tax changes include an increase in the IRA deduction, Hurricane Katrina tax relief, a new definition for a Qualifying Child, and the exclusion of an exemption for dependents if the tax filer is also a dependent claimed on someone else's tax return.

Several tax software enhancements have also been made by Taxhead.com, making it easy to prepare and eFile tax returns (tax form 1040A, EZ). Taxhead.com is proud to continue to offer one of the easiest, fastest, most secure ways for people to prepare their taxes.

This online tax software remains free to use. Taxhead.com only charges a small fee for their eFile service.
